Job summary

Met Council in New York, NY is seeking a Porter for its facilities. The role is full-time, 40 hours per week, and pays $20.00 per hour. You will clean common areas, manage trash and recyclables, and assist maintenance staff to ensure a safe, orderly environment for clients and staff.

Position Summary:

The porter is responsible for ensuring that all areas of assigned building(s) are cleaned according to the provided schedule. The porter will also properly remove trash and recyclables on DSNY assigned days.

Principal Responsibilities:

• General cleaning of common areas in assigned building.
• General cleaning of perimeter of assigned building.
• Removal of garbage and recyclables in compliance with DSNY rules and regulations.

Physical Demands:

1. Required Constantly: Walking, standing, climbing stairs, lifting of materials and tools (5-50 pounds).
2. Required Frequently: Climbing ladders, operating machinery.
3. Required Occasionally: Shoveling of snow, reaching above the shoulder, pushing and pulling.

Compensation:

$20.00 per hour
