Position Summary

The porter is responsible for ensuring that all areas of assigned building(s) are cleaned according to the provided schedule. The porter will also properly remove trash and recyclables on DSNY assigned days.

Principal Responsibilities
  • General cleaning of common areas in assigned building.
  • General cleaning of perimeter of assigned building.
  • Removal of garbage and recyclables in compliance with DSNY rules and regulations.
  • Cleaning of compactor and garbage chute rooms.
  • Assist Senior Superintendent, Handyman and Porters as assigned.
  • Coordinate access for outside contractors as assigned.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Physical Demands
  • Required Constantly: Walking, standing, climbing stairs, lifting of materials and tools (5-50 pounds).
  • Required Frequently: Climbing ladders, operating machinery.
  • Required Occasionally: Shoveling of snow, reaching above the shoulder, pushing and pulling.
Compensation

$20.00 per hour
