Job summary

RHO Residential LLC in Jersey City, NJ is seeking a Porter to assist the maintenance team in creating a safe, clean, and welcoming living environment for residents. The role involves support across grounds, common areas, and services, with a focus on timely task completion and resident relations.

The position requires basic reading/writing in English, ability to use maintenance tools, and strong interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write English correctly and fluently.
• Ability to perform basic to intermediate mathematical functions.
• No previous working experience required.
• Must be able to deal well with people and help residents feel comfortable quickly.
• Must be punctual and arrive at the site within 30 minutes if not living on site.
• Valid Driver’s License and insurance recommended.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Management Office, models, interior public and common areas of the community in a neat, clean and attractive condition.
• Maintain all grounds, including sidewalks, public walkways and stairways, building exteriors, garden areas and dog runs in a neat, clean and attractive condition.
• Accepts and enters Work Order requests from residents.
• Assist in making vacant apartments rent-ready in a timely manner.
• Compact and remove trash and debris from community.
• Complete assigned tasks consistent with company procedures and in a timely manner.
• Snow removal including shoveling, salting/sanding, and clearing sidewalks and entrances.
• Delivers notifications to residents.
• Transports small equipment between departments.
• Sets up tables and chairs in auditorium or hall.
• All other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

About the Role:

Compensation is $22.00p/hour

Summary

The Porter assists the maintenance team in maintaining the physical integrity of the community. This involves ensuring a safe, secure and comfortable living environment for residents, visitors and staff. The Porter will carry out assigned duties in a safe, prompt and professional manner.

Requirements

• Education: For safety and productivity reasons, the position requires the ability to read and write English correctly and fluently. In addition, the position requires the ability to accurately perform basic to intermediate mathematical functions.
• Experience: No previous working experience required.
• Skills: The position requires the ability to deal well with people and get them to feel comfortable quickly. In addition, the position requires the following:
  • ability to identify and use janitorial supplies
  • ability to use general maintenance tools, supplies and equipment such as, but not limited to, hand tools, pressure washers, blowers, paint equipment, pool equipment, ice removal equipment, etc.
  • good verbal and written communication skills
  • basic computer skills, specifically knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • ability to attend seminars/classes in multiple locations
  • must have the ability to arrive at the site within 30 minutes if not living on site
• Licenses: Valid Driver’s License and insurance recommended.

Essential Job Functions

10. Sets up tables and chairs in auditorium or hall.
11. Must be punctual and reliable.
12. All other tasks as assigned by your supervisor.
