Job summary

North Jersey Friendship House, Inc. is seeking a part-time Porter to support evening cleaning at our Hackensack, NJ location. You will clean contracted buildings and office spaces, including floors, restrooms, windows, and fixtures, and you will manage trash and general upkeep.

Reports to the Assistant Director of Maintenance. One year of janitorial experience is preferred but not required; reliability and ability to commute to the site for the 4:00pm–8:00pm shifts are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in janitorial work is preferred but not required.
• Reliable with the ability to reach the job site for required shifts.

Responsibilities

• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
• Gather and empty trash.
• Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
• Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
• Prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
• Follow procedures for use of chemical cleaners and power equipment.
• Perform other duties to maintain building cleanliness.

Hours: Monday - Friday (4:00pm-8:00pm)

Primary Function

Responsible for cleaning contracted buildings and office space.

Essential Functions

1. Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
2. Gather and empty trash.
3. Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
4. Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
5. Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using specific cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
6. Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
7. Mix water and detergents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
8. Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
9. Any other duties deemed necessary for the cleanliness of the building.

Requirements
