Position: Porter
Forward Air is seeking a dependable and experienced Porter to manage day-time cleanliness, functionality, and preventative maintenance tasks at our terminal in Forest Park, GA . This role is essential to maintaining a clean, safe, and well-functioning facility that supports overall employee productivity and satisfaction. Responsibilities include routine cleaning, minor maintenance, and ensuring all areas of the terminal remain in top condition throughout the day.
Core Responsibilities & Duties:
- Maintain ethical, professional, and courteous relations with contractors and employees.
- Wash & sanitize contact surfaces
- Empty trash canisters as needed
- Clean all spills/messes in and around the center (and parking lot)
- Keep our dumpster area, parking lot, sidewalk, etc., free of debris
- Ensures items like vending machines and coffee dispensers are adequately serviced for continuing operations.
- Operate equipment as necessary within the guidelines set forth by Management to assure proper building functions and integrity.
- Always maintain professional appearance and manner while on-site.
- Assists in complying with all City, State and Federal safety and environmental laws, codes, standards, and regulations.
- Performs general maintenance and limited operations of the HVAC equipment.
- Assists in ordering, stocking, and inventory of base building lighting and ballasts while maintaining inventory of lamps and ballasts.
- Maintains all lighting and ceiling tile requests.
- Ensures day-time stocking of all shared paper towel/napkin services
- Ensures routine inspection and as-needed cleaning of restrooms (to subsidize nightly vendor cleaning)
- Perform occasional preventative maintenance of shared spaces.
- Ensures hazardous waste items are properly disposed of.
- Helps maintain ceiling tile inventory and replaces damaged tile, as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Climb up and down stairs and ladders and, with training, utilize an aerial lift.
- Lift 25 lbs. or more.
- Work standing all day.
- Access remote work areas, i.e., crawl spaces, roofs.
- Utilize full manual dexterity (i.e., sitting, squatting, bending, crawling, kneeling, lifting, walking, manipulating tools with limbs extended).
- Meet attendance requirements.
- Read and use shop manuals and electrical drawings.
- Read and use all types of test equipment, analog digital multi-meters, pressure, and temperature indicating and recording devices, air flow measuring devices, and leak detection devices.
- Work overtime as business needs deem appropriate.
Skills
- Basic computer skills and ability to use spreadsheet programs.
