Summary

An opening currently exists for an Onsite Operator at the Houston Division of McElroy Metal. This position will operate the portable roll-forming and curving equipment to produce panels in accordance with customer requirements. The role requires travel to jobsites located throughout the U.S., using a company-provided vehicle and towing a trailer. This is a non-exempt position reporting to the Operations Manager.

Hours

7:30 am – 4:00 pm M-F

Responsibilities

• Sets up, operates and maintains portable rollformer, curver, and taper machines, including secondary equipment such as the Hot Melt unit, generator, and air compressor.
• Travels to site locations using a company truck and trailer.
• Adjusts onsite related equipment to properly produce the required product, including tooling changes and adjustments.
• Performs all necessary QA checks to ensure correct specifications.
• Trains a back-up operator technician as necessary.

Experience/Skills

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent appearance and communication skills.
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining roll-forming equipment.
• Valid license and up-to-date DOT physical and drug screen.
• Willingness to travel to jobsites in the U.S., often for multiple days.
• Ability to problem solve and work independently.
• Metal building or construction-related experience is a plus.
