Job summary

United CNC Machining in Auburn Hills, Michigan, is seeking a CMM Operator experienced with the Hexagon Romer Absolute Arm and PC-DMIS to perform first article, in-process, and final inspections on aerospace and defense components.

You will read blueprints, GD&T callouts, and customer specifications, maintain quality records, support root cause and corrective actions, and ensure ITAR compliance in a climate-controlled shop.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on experience operating a portable CMM arm (Romer/Roamer, FARO, or similar).
• Proficiency in PC-DMIS software (programming and operation).
• Strong knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and blueprint reading.
• Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports preferred.
• Aerospace or defense manufacturing quality experience strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with AS9100D/ISO 9001 quality systems a plus.
• Ability to use standard measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges).
• ITAR compliance capability.

Responsibilities

• Operate portable CMM arm to inspect machined parts against drawings.
• Create, edit, and run inspection programs using PC-DMIS.
• Perform first article inspections and generate FAI reports.
• Conduct in-process and final inspections for dimensional conformance.
• Read and interpret blueprints and GD&T callouts.
• Document inspection results and maintain quality records.
• Identify nonconformances and support corrective actions.
• Calibrate and maintain measurement equipment per procedures.
• Collaborate with machinists, programmers, and quality team.
• Maintain ITAR compliance and customer-specific requirements.
