Job summary

Georgia Ports Authority seeks a Protective Services Officer to control traffic gates and assess access for cargo and personnel at the terminal. The role involves directing vehicle and pedestrian traffic, performing ID checks and monitoring for security risks, all while supporting safety programs and incident reporting.

The PSO will operate surveillance equipment, coordinate with GPA Police Dispatch, and ensure compliance with MTSA and GPA security protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• TWIC credential required.
• Valid state driver's license required.
• Must be able to work rotating shifts, holidays and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Directs and controls motor vehicle and/or pedestrian traffic at gates and access points, maintaining records of activity.
• Performs identification checks and maintains control of access points.
• Monitors facility for unusual activity and notifies GPA Police Dispatch as needed.
• Screens cargos, vehicles and baggage to detect dangerous substances or devices in line with MTSA and Facility Security Plan.
• Keeps work areas safe and clean.
• Detects and isolates prohibited objects or contraband per laws and GPA rules.
• Communicates observations professionally with co-workers and the public.
• Provides vessel crew transport through the facility as needed.
