Job summary

ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (ADOT) seeks a Police Officer for the Port of Entry to ensure public safety and compliance of commercial traffic and vehicle regulations. You will perform inspections, issue permits, and enforce state and federal laws.

The position requires AZPOST certification, weapons certification, CVSA within 6 months, and a valid driver's license; background check and travel may be required. Shift work is required, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Motor Vehicle Laws, rules and regulations.
• Strong report writing and money handling experience.
• 1 year of law enforcement experience preferred.
• Must hold AZPOST certification and weapons certification.

Responsibilities

• Screen commercial driver/vehicle credentials and perform safety inspections.
• Issue permits, route over-dimensional loads and collect fees/taxes.
• Enforce state and federal laws; conduct vehicle stops and investigations.
• Maintain reports, drive/state vehicle safety and complete court testimony when required.
