Job summary

Kodiak is seeking a Deputy Harbormaster (Deputy Director) to oversee the Port and Harbor Department, including St. Paul Harbor, St. Herman Harbor, and multiple piers. You will plan, organize, and direct daily operations for harbor staff and maintenance, ensuring safety, budgeting, and regulatory compliance.

The role requires a Bachelor's in public or related field with 5–7 years harbor experience and at least 2 years in supervision. May serve as acting Harbormaster when needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and a Bachelor's in public/admin or related field.
• Five to seven years of progressively responsible professional harbor experience, including at least two years supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and direct daily harbor operations for harbor officers and maintenance staff.
• Supervise subordinate staff and review their work; participate in budget development and monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with safety and security procedures and maintain professional standards.
• May serve as acting Harbormaster (Director) when necessary.
