Job summary

The NYC Department of Environmental Protection is seeking an Administrative Public Health Sanitarian to enforce environmental health standards across the five boroughs. This role emphasizes inspections, compliance with food, drug, and sanitation laws, and leadership in administrative tasks within Water & Wastewater operations.

Provisional appointment may lead to permanent employment after passing the civil service exam and obtaining a list number.

Qualifications

• Four years of full-time inspections experience ensuring compliance with laws on food, drugs, and environmental sanitation, 18 months in admin/managerial capacity.
• Associate/alternative education accepted with required science credits and years of relevant experience.
• Equivalent education/experience with at least 60 credits and biology/physical science credits plus sanitarian experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee EH&S standards and procedures for Marine Section operations and maintain compliance.
• Direct activities to conform to the Safety Management System; lead internal audits and corrective actions.
• Coordinate mandatory training, maintain records, and support document control; assist with workload planning.
