Job description

Position Overview: This position will serve as a childcare assistant responsible for providing high-quality care and support to children enrolled at the Edna A. Hill Child Development Center.

Job Description:

  • 98% - Provide quality care services to children enrolled in the Edna A. Hill Child Development Center. This includes upholding KDHE licensing regulations, interacting with children on appropriate developmental levels, implementing behavior management strategies, and collecting data.
  • 2% - Support and collaborate with other staff members.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have at least 3 clock hours of child development training or a willingness to complete it before the start date, as stated in application materials.
  • Must be willing to obtain pediatric First Aid certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Must be willing to obtain pediatric CPR certification within 30 days of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with children, as indicated in application materials.

Position Requirements:

During the semester, student hourly employees must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours. For summer, they must:

  • have been enrolled in at least 6 hours in the past spring semester, or
  • be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in at least 6 hours, or
  • be enrolled in summer session, or
  • be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester.

Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. Exceptions for GRA/GTA/GA appointments do not apply to Student Hourly positions.

Employment Conditions:

  1. Student employees are not eligible for remote work unless approved by unit leadership and HR.
  2. This is an hourly/non-exempt position. Students cannot hold both an hourly/non-exempt and a salaried/exempt position concurrently.
