Job summary

Tampa General Hospital is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to perform respiratory care and diagnostic procedures. Qualifications

  • Completion of a 2-year Respiratory Care Program and certification as CRT-RE, CRT-MRE, or RRT.
  • Licensed as RRT in Florida with active credential and 4 years of hospital experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform respiratory care and pulmonary diagnostic procedures under supervision.
  • Manage and treat patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies.
  • Provide ventilatory support and maintenance of life support systems.

Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist performs designated respiratory care and pulmonary diagnostic procedures under supervision, following protocols established by the department and hospital. Responsibilities include treatment, management, control, diagnostic evaluation, and care of patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies and abnormalities. Services include, but are not limited to:

  • Therapeutic and diagnostic procedures using medical gases, environmental control systems, humidification, and aerosols
  • Administration of drugs and medications to the cardiopulmonary system
  • Ventilatory support, including maintenance and management of life support systems
  • Bronchopulmonary drainage and breathing exercises
  • Pulmonary rehabilitation
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Maintenance of natural and artificial airways

Procedures are performed in critical and non-critical care areas, on patients of all ages, aligned with Tampa General Hospital's mission, vision, and values.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a 2-year Respiratory Care Program and certification as CRT-RE, CRT-MRE, or RRT, with NBRC requirements for RRT
  • Approved bachelor’s degree, credential, or equivalent
  • Licensed as RRT in Florida with active credential and 4 years of hospital experience
