Job Description - POOL Respiratory Therapist 2 - 7AM-7PM (25000290)

Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist performs designated Respiratory Care and Pulmonary diagnostic procedures under the supervision of a Respiratory Care Coordinator or designee. These procedures are conducted in accordance with protocols and procedures established by the department and hospital, focusing on the treatment, management, control, diagnostic evaluation, and care of patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies and abnormalities.

Respiratory Care services include, but are not limited to:

  • Therapeutic and diagnostic procedures using medical gases, administration apparatus, environmental control systems, humidification, and aerosols
  • Administration of drugs and medications to the cardiopulmonary system
  • Ventilatory support, including maintenance and management of life support systems
  • Bronchopulmonary drainage and breathing exercises
  • Pulmonary rehabilitation
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Maintenance of natural and artificial airways

These procedures are performed in both critical care and non-critical care areas, on patients of all ages, aligning with Tampa General Hospital's mission, vision, and values.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a 2-year Respiratory Care Program and achievement of CRT-RE, CRT-MRE, or RRT status, along with NBRC requirements for RRT
  • Licensed as RRT in the State of Florida with active credentialing for RRT
  • Initial orientation and completion of a progressive orientation period or 1-year progressive hospital experience. CRT candidates must have 3 years of progressive hospital experience.
