Tampa General Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Pool Medical Laboratory Scientist III to perform a wide range of laboratory procedures across licensed specialties.

You will ensure quality control, evaluate results, and report patient results accurately while maintaining instrument calibration and proficiency testing. The role requires an FL license, ASCP or AMT certification, and the ability to work independently in all areas covered by the license.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree Medical Technology or Bachelor's in Biology or Chemistry.
• Licensed in all 5 specialties.
• ASCP or AMT certification.

Responsabilités

• Perform approved laboratory procedures according to established policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate ability to work independently in all areas covered by the FL license.
• Perform quality control for all tests, evaluate results, and take corrective action as necessary before reporting patient results.
• Assess specimen integrity for appropriateness of ordered tests.
• Ensure procedures, methodologies, and patient results correlate with age-specific criteria for geriatrics, adults, pediatrics, and neonates.
• Repeat and report all panic/critical test results within 5 minutes of completion.
• Perform calibrations and maintenance as required by instrument manufacturers, CLIA, and TJC.
• Complete proficiency testing samples within the requested timeframe.
• Demonstrate competency in using LIS and HIS computer systems.
• Ensure adequate supplies are available and promptly notify the supervisor when supplies are low.

Description

Performs all approved laboratory procedures in assigned licensure specialties, as required to meet workload demands. coordinating lab resources as outlined below. Precisely and accurately performs and evaluates a variety of technical procedures. Utilizes accepted quality control techniques by manual, semi -automated, or automated methodologies and equipment.

Essential Functions

Perform work according to established laboratory policies and procedures.

Demonstrate the ability to work independently in all areas covered by the FL license.

Perform quality control for all tests, evaluate results, and take corrective action as necessary before reporting patient results.

Assess specimen integrity for appropriateness of ordered tests, including issues like QNS, hemolysis, and clotting.

Ensure procedures, methodologies, and patient results correlate with age-specific criteria for geriatrics, adults, pediatrics, and neonates.

Repeat and report all panic/critical test results to a licensed caregiver within 5 minutes of completion.

Perform calibrations and maintenance as required by instrument manufacturers, CLIA, and TJC.
