Job summary

City of Longmont is seeking a Pool Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair mechanical, chemical, electrical, plumbing and related systems across multiple aquatic facilities and an ice rink. The role includes daily water chemistry checks, preventive maintenance, and overseeing staff and contractors to ensure safe operations.

The position requires a minimum of two years in facility maintenance, a valid Colorado driver’s license, and ability to work varied hours including seasonal peaks.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in maintenance, repair and operation of pumps, motors, controllers, plumbing and electrical systems.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Must hold a valid Colorado driver’s license.
• Ability to work on-call, respond to call-backs, and work extended or flexible hours during emergencies and as operational needs require.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily water chemistry and equipment checks at aquatic facilities and ice rinks.
• Inspect pumps, motors, filters, controls, plumbing, and mechanical systems; document findings and maintenance needs.
• Perform preventative maintenance on pumps, motors, valves, chlorinators, filtration and heating systems.
• Coordinate safety inspections with Maintenance Supervisor and Risk Department to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Prepare outdoor pools and pool buildings for seasonal operation and winter shutdown.
• Assemble, maintain and dismantle the seasonal ice rink; train staff and maintain ice resurfacing equipment.
• Oversee contractors and staff, ensuring safe and effective work practices and project compliance.
• Order replacement parts, chemicals and supplies; reconcile monthly procurement transactions.
• Maintain inventory of materials and assist with price quotations from vendors.
