Job description

The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Men’s Basketball Coach in planning, managing, coordinating, operating, and evaluating the Men’s Basketball program at the College.


Reporting to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, this position is expected to adhere to the responsibilities of competitive success, the academic success of students, fiscal responsibility, and rules compliance within the parameters set forth by the NJCAA.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist Head Coach to advise student-athletes and staff of applicable intercollegiate athletic rules, regulations, and College policies, ensuring compliance.
  2. Assist Head Coach to recruit, advise, and sign student-athletes for team participation.
  3. Inform student-athletes of academic and other matters pertaining to their enrollment and educational progress.
  4. Plan and direct athletic skill development for student-athletes.
  5. Ensure appropriate safety measures are observed when conducting team activities.
  6. Work within budgetary guidelines established by the College.
  7. Coordinate all activities in preparation for scheduled competition.
  8. Attend all team practices and home and away contests.
  9. In coordination with the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Head Coach, monitor student-athlete academic performance and implement measures to support their academic success.
  10. Assist with student-athlete compliance with all NJCAA rules and regulations.
  11. Assist in resolving cases where a student-athlete violates an applicable regulation.
  12. Work with Athletic Staff, alumni student groups, College administration, and community groups to seek support for the team.
  13. Responsible for additional tasks as assigned to further advance the college and student success.
