General Purpose

Assists the Program Coordinator and/or Program Director in the supervision of designated department in the areas of: health and safety, supervision, program quality, operational effectiveness, and fundraising.

General Purpose

Assists the Program Coordinator and/or Program Director in the supervision of designated department in the areas of: health and safety, supervision, program quality, operational effectiveness, and fundraising.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Ensures compliance with established procedures, policies and standards related to health and safety, exercising independent judgment to do more and apply techniques and procedures. Completes risk assessments and correct deficiencies. Reports incidents promptly.
  • Customarily assists in regularly directing work task for a staff team during scheduled shift, enforcement of expectations, and compliance with association standards, regular communication, and modeling of best practices.
  • Assists in reports, and other administrative tasks needed for department.
  • Assists with the annual campaign team by meeting volunteer and financial goals. Additionally, support branch annual fundraising events.
  • Provides general oversight to the branch/child and youth development environment including serving as a manager on duty, enforcing expectation, and ensuring daily checklist are completed.
  • Models YMCA values while working with staff, volunteers, members, and community partners.
  • Serve as point of contact to resolve member/parent concerns, questions or suggestions while on Duty.
  • Carries out all responsibilities and communications in an honest, ethical, and professional manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Specialized Duties By Program Area

Aquatics

  • Provides assistance in development, organization, and implementation of diverse aquatics program offerings for youth and adults. This includes private instruction, lessons, group recreational classes and competitive teams.
  • Assist with Safety drills to ensure compliance with standards, exercising independent judgment to do more than merely apply techniques and procedures.
  • In coordination with supervisor, develops, maintains and distributes pool schedules, rosters, and class offerings.
  • Assists in designing and implementing innovative programs based upon trends and best practices.
  • Assists with Audit reports, as needed.
  • Work scheduled lifeguard shifts as needed

Minimum Qualifications: The following are the minimum qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties & responsibilities of this position. Please note that the minimum qualifications may vary based upon the department size and/or geographic location.

Education & Certification

  • Certifications such as POOL, CPO, or Lifeguard Trainer preferred (Aquatics Department)
  • First Aid and CPR certifications required within the first 60 days of employment.

Experience & Background: Must be 18 years of age. 1+ years of related experience and supervision required (in addition to the education off-set). Additional years of experience may offset some of the educational requirement. Experience working with diverse populations
