Job summary

UP Health System Bell is seeking a Polysomnographic Technician for a part-time 0.6 FTE role (24 hours/week), night shift 7pm–7am. Join a team dedicated to high-quality sleep care.

You will review patient history, prepare equipment, apply sensors, acquire sleep data, and document findings to support accurate scoring. The role also includes PAP fitting and ongoing education to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Experience in a sleep lab is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Preferred: Associated Degree in Applied Science or 6 months work experience in a sleep lab.
• Basic Life Support certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Review patient history, physical information, medications, procedure request, and study protocol.
• Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning and make adjustments, if necessary.
• Apply electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards.
• Perform appropriate physiological calibrations to ensure proper signals and make adjustments, if necessary.
• Perform polysomnographic data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact-free and make adjustments, if necessary.
• Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.
• Assist with scoring sleep/wake stages and clinical events with center-specific protocols.
• Assist with the generation of accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical event data.
• Follow procedures to ensure data collection and data integrity.
• Demonstrate self-directed learning and participate in continuing education.
