Job summary

Salinas Valley Health in Salinas, CA, seeks a Per Diem Polysomnographic Therapist to perform advanced sleep testing and CPAP/BIPAP titrations under physician orders in the Sleep Center.

The ideal candidate will hold an AMA-accredited Respiratory Care Program, NBRC-registered RRT, California RCP license, and BLS certification, with 1 year of Sleep Medicine experience preferred. Proficiency in Meditech and patient monitoring is expected.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an AMA-accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Licensure as Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through NBRC.
• California Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
• BLS/Healthcare Provider certification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality polysomnography (PSG) with 16+ channels as per AASM guidelines.
• Conduct CPAP/BIPAP titration and set up CPAP devices.
• Maintain sleep apnea and CPAP/BIPAP logs during tests.
• Place PSG monitors (EMG, EKG, EEG, oximetry, thermistors, leads, and other sensors).
• Operate Hospital Meditech system and perform routine equipment maintenance.

Performs technically high-quality PSG testing as outlined in the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). Performs CPAP/BIPAP titration. Maintains sleep apnea and CPAP/BIPAP logs during tests.* Performs non-invasive polysomnography using 16 or more channels.* Correctly and accurately places PSG monitors (EMG, EKG, EEG, Oximeter, nasal and oral thermistors, leg leads, upper airway sensor, respiratory belts, and other monitors needed).* Sets up CPAP/BIPAP/ASV/AVAPS; administers oxygen therapy as necessary.* Charts all patient events, behaviors, and information.* Uses Hospital Meditech computer system.* Performs preventative maintenance, calibration, minor repairs, cleaning, and disinfecting equipment.* Performs related duties, such as, stocking supplies, clerical duties, satisfying telephone and other staff inquiries.* Stays current on sleep literature and new technologies.* Performs other duties as assigned.**Education:** Graduate from an American Medical Association (AMA) accredited Respiratory Care Program Required.**Licensure:** Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required. Current California Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP) license Required. Current BLS/Healthcare Provider status as per American Heart Association standards required.**Experience:** One (1) year experience in Sleep Medicine Center or EEG preferred.**Salary:** The hourly rate for this position is $56.40 - $70.50.
