Job summary

Cedars-Sinai, a world-class medical group in Southern California, is seeking a Sleep Technologist to support sleep studies and PSG scoring under direct supervision of a sleep medicine physician. You will help set up home sleep testing devices and ensure accurate data collection for quality patient care.

The role emphasizes patient education, proper equipment calibration, and adherence to laboratory protocols to deliver artifact-free signals and reliable polysomnographic results.

Qualifications

• ABRET EEG Certification is required.
• CA BRPT license and/or Respiratory Care Practitioner license in California.
• 1+ year of PSG experience and home sleep study scoring recommended.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sleep studies under supervision of sleep medicine physician.
• Oversee home sleep study logistics and scoring of home sleep tests.
• Collect and analyze patient information to meet patient-specific needs.
• Determine testing parameters with ordering physician and protocols.
• Explain procedures and orient patients for sleep testing.
• Calibrate equipment and apply electrodes/sensors per standards; monitor quality.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Works under direct clinical supervision of the sleep medicine physician to prepare sleep studies, support patients with positive airway pressure related issues, and conduct polysomnogram scoring.
• Oversees home sleep study logistics. Sets up and scores home sleep testing devices.
• Collects, analyzes and integrates patient information in order to identify and meet the patient-specific needs.
• Determines final testing parameters/procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician or clinical director and laboratory protocols.
• Explains procedures and orients the patient for sleep testing.
• Selects appropriate equipment and calibrates for testing to determine proper functioning and make adjustments, if necessary; applies electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards.
• Performs data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact-free. Identifies, corrects and documents artifacts. Documents routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.
• Performs patient education and instruction appropriate for sleep testing.

Qualifications

Certifications/Licenses Requirements:

• EEG (Electroencephalogram Technologist) Certification by ABRET.
• Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (PSG) CA License by BRPT and/or Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner by Respiratory Care Board of California.

Experience:

• One (1) plus years’ experience in PSG (Polysomnographic Technologist) and home sleep study scoring.
