Sleep Technician - Lombard - Sleep Lab

***$2,500 Sign On Bonus Included!***

Position Highlights:

  • Full-Time - 40 hours per week
  • Hours: Overnights; Sunday-Saturday: 7:30pm-6:30am
    • 4 x 10 hour shifts
    • Every other weekend required
  • Location: Lombard and Lockport - need to be willing to work at both

Under the direction of the Site Physician(s) and Practice Manager, serves as a primary assistant to physicians and nurses. Practices high quality medical care in performing a variety of patient care activities such as preparation for appointments, minor exams and procedures, laboratory and maintenance controls, patient documentation, and various office duties.


Responsibilities

A Polysomnographic Technologist works under the general supervision of the Sleep Center Supervisor and clinical direction of the pulmonary physicians who are diplomats of the ABSM. The technologist provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This includes polysomnography, diagnostic, therapeutic services, and education. Responsible for the coordination and delivery of professional and courteous patient care. Has the ability to complete administrative tasks as well as technical duties. Will know established policies and procedures and be willing and able to assist in development and/ or modification.

  • Gather & review patient information -histories, medications, procedure request and study protocol
  • Explain procedures and orient patient to sleep lab
  • Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning and make adjustments if necessary
  • Perform routine positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fitting
  • Follow procedural protocols (such as Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP and oxygen titration, etc. to ensure collection of appropriate data
  • Follow "lights out" procedures to establish and document baseline values
  • Perform polysomnographic data acquisition
  • Document routine observations
  • Implement appropriate interventions
  • Follow "lights on" procedures to verify integrity of collected data and complete the data collection process
  • Assist with scoring sleep/wake stages and clinical events
  • Generate accurate reports
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations & guidelines
  • Perform routine equipment care and maintenance and inventory evaluations
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of an accredited polysomnographic program leading to an associate’s degree with emphasis on polysomnography
  • Successful completion of an accredited polysomnographic program with emphasis on polysomnography or completion of ASTEP Program
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists required OR Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT) upon hire with RPSGT obtained within 6 months of hire
  • BLS certification required
  • A minimum of 2 years experience as a Polysomnographic Technician preferred.

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $26.00-33.35, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation is available through a $3.00/hour shift differential, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
