Job summary

Indiana University Health's Riley Hospital pediatric sleep program seeks a PSG Technologist to perform diagnostic sleep studies, prepare equipment, interview patients, and supervise staff.

This full-time night-shift role includes a $15,000 sign-on bonus, night shift differential, tuition assistance, and opportunities for credentialing and career advancement within Indiana's largest health system.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; Associate degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years of pediatric sleep studies experience.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist NBRC or RPSGT certification.
  • Must obtain RPSGT or SDS within 2 years of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patient equipment for testing and interview patients to determine sleep disorder issues.
  • Monitor patient throughout testing and intervene as necessary.
  • Assist with scoring sleep studies and generating reports.
  • Maintain and calibrate sleep testing equipment and ensure repairs as needed.

Join IU Health's nationally recognized pediatric sleep program with Riley Children's Hospital and help diagnose and treat sleep disorders in children through advanced sleep testing. This role offers the opportunity to work with a highly specialized patient population while developing expertise in pediatric sleep medicine.

About This Position
  • Full-time nights with a consistent Thursday-Friday-Saturday schedule (3x12-hour shifts), providing four days off each week.

This position performs basic and advanced diagnostic sleep studies and may provide supervision of other staff. They prepare patient equipment for testing, interview patients to determine sleep disorder issues and explain pre and post testing procedures. They perform and document testing per lab protocols. They will monitor patient throughout testing and intervene as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues. They will assist with scoring sleep studies and generating reports. The role prepares, calibrates, repairs and maintains equipment required for testing. They determine and report needed repairs/replacements. They will maintain credentials as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BPRT). Certifications obtained through the American Board of Sleep Medicine will be honored through their certification date or until credentials through the BPRT are obtained.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED is required. Associate's degree is preferred.
  • Requires 1-3 years of experience working with pediatric sleep studies.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist through the NBRC or Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist.
  • Must obtain certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or certification as a Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) within 2 years of date of hire.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
