Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking a Polysomnographic Technologist to perform comprehensive sleep testing and scoring under supervision, in collaboration with the Medical Director and leadership. The role includes supervising a Polysomnographic Trainee and improving workflow in sleep disorder testing.

Training will occur in the Ottawa location, and the position is hourly with competitive benefits. CPR-BLS certification and a sleep-specific credential are required within the specified timeframe.

Qualifications

  • Education must meet one of the listed requirements (degree or credential).
  • CPR-BLS for Health Care Providers.
  • One of the following within 24 months of hire: RPSGT or SDS, BRPT sleep specialty.
  • Six months clinical experience as a sleep trainee or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Medical Director and leadership to ensure efficient sleep testing and scoring.
  • Provide supervision of a Polysomnographic Trainee.

Expected pay for this position is $27.26 - $35.68/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.

This is an Hourly position.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Polysomnographic Technologist works collectively with the Medical Director, Leadership, staff and patients to achieve optimal efficiency and success in sleep disorder testing and scoring. Performs comprehensive sleep testing / analysis and associated interventions under the general supervision of the Leader, Medical Director, or designee. Provide supervision of a Polysomnographic Trainee.

Training would be done in the Ottawa location

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

High School Diploma/ GED

Must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Successful completion of an accredited educational program with an associate's degree in an allied health field.
  • Completion of six months experience as a sleep trainee with documented proficiency in all required competencies.
  • Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT) credential or equivalent.
  • 6 months clinical experience working as an EEG Tech.

Licensure/Certification:

CPR-American Heart Association (BLS for Health Care Proivders).

Must obtain one of the following within 24 months of hire:

  • Certification extensions may be granted up to an extra 12 months if approved by leadership and there is a business need to do so.
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist - (RPSGT), Registry in sleep technology through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT).
  • The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) - Sleep Disorders Specialty - SDS.

Other skills/knowledge:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Associate degree in an allied healthcare field (respiratory care or neuro-diagnostics).

Other skills/knowledge:

Analytical skills necessary to collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative statistical data and conduct diagnostic procedures.

Interpersonal skills necessary to explain procedures to patient to alleviate their apprehensions and gain their cooperation
