Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking a Polysomnographic Technologist in Illinois to support sleep disorder testing and scoring under supervision. You will work with the Medical Director, leadership, staff and patients to achieve efficient testing and accurate results.

The role requires an associate degree or better, CPSGT or equivalent, and certification timelines; excellent communication and analytical skills. This hourly position offers competitive pay and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must meet ONE of: associate’s degree in an allied health field; six months experience as a sleep trainee; CPSGT credential or equivalent; 6 months EEG Tech experience.
  • Licenses/certifications: RPSGT, NBRC, SDS Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) by ABSM, BLS for Health Care Providers.
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong analytical and problem solving with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sleep testing, analysis and interventions under supervision.
  • Collaborate with Medical Director, leadership and staff to ensure efficient testing.
  • Provide supervision of a Polysomnographic Trainee.

Expected pay for this position is $27.26 - $35.68/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.

This is an Hourly position.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Polysomnographic Technologist works collectively with the Medical Director, Leadership, staff and patients to achieve optimal efficiency and success in sleep disorder testing and scoring. Performs comprehensive sleep testing / analysis and associated interventions under the general supervision of the Leader, Medical Director, or designee. Provide supervision of a Polysomnographic Trainee.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must meet ONE of the following requirements:
    • Successful completion of an accredited educational program with an associate’s degree in an allied health field.
    • Completion of six months experience as a sleep trainee with documented proficiency in all required competencies.
    • Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT) credential or equivalent.
    • 6 months clinical experience working as an EEG Tech.
  • Other Licenses/Certifications:
    • Must obtain ONE of the following within 24 months of hire.
    • Certification extensions may be granted up to an extra 12 months if approved by leadership and there is a business need to do so.
    • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist – (RPSGT), Registry in sleep technology through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT)
    • The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
    • Sleep Disorders Specialty – SDS Registered Sleep Technologist – RST registered by the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM)
    • CPR-American Heart Association (BLS for Health Care Providers)
  • Other skills/knowledge:
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: An associate’s degree in an allied healthcare field (respiratory care or neuro-diagnostics).
  • Other skills/knowledge: Analytical skills necessary to collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative statistical data and conduct diagnostic procedures.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to explain procedures to patient to alleviate their apprehensions and gain their cooperation
