Job summary

Valley Health in Virginia seeks a per diem Sleep Lab Technologist to perform in-center and home sleep apnea testing, plus diagnostic and therapeutic sleep interventions. You will monitor sleep stages, coordinate with the clinical team, and ensure exceptional patient care in a fast-paced lab.

The role requires AS or RPSGT credentials, board certification and VA licensure, plus active BLS. Per diem schedule offers flexibility and integration with our sleep services.

Qualifications

  • AS or RPSGT in Sleep Diagnostics with Board Registration required.
  • Board Certification and VA licensure required.
  • RPSGT (BRPT) required.
  • BLS Certification (Healthcare Provider) required.
  • Must be Board Certified in sleep and maintain licensure for direct patient care.
  • New hires must have AHA certification prior to orientation completion.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders in center and home sleep apnea testing.
  • Perform polysomnography, CPAP titration studies and related sleep studies.
  • Monitor apnea-hypopnea index, oxygen desaturation and respiratory index with accurate reporting.
  • Deliver direct patient education and maintain high quality patient care under supervision.

Department SLEEP LAB - 207029 Worker Sub Type Per Diem Work Shift Pay Range Job Description
Board Certified Polysomnographic Technologists work under the general supervision of the Clinical Manager and provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders including in center and home sleep apnea testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, comprehensive patient care and direct patient education. Including, Polysomnograms, Split- PSG/CPAP studies, CPAP titration studies, Bi-pap, ambulatory studies to include, reflecting sympathetic nervous system activation, wake/sleep detection, REM/Deep/Light sleep stages (true sleep time), monitoring body position as well as snoring. Technologists will accurately monitor Apnea/Hypopnea index, Oxygen desaturation and Respiratory index and provide the highest level of patient care with direct emergent intervention as needed.

Education and Experience
  • Minimum AS or R. PSG T. in Sleep Diagnostics with Board Registration required
  • Experience Certification & Licensures: Board Certification and VA licensure required
  • RPSGT (Registered Polysomnographic Technologist- BRPT) required
  • BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - AHA approved required
  • * Must be Board Certified holding credentials in sleep as well as maintain licensure when providing direct patient care during diagnostic studies.
  • * New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.

Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge in Respiratory and Neurodiagnostics as it relates to sleep staging
  • Ability to orient and train technologists, and affiliate students required
  • Ability to conduct in-services and provide technical assistance required
  • Demonstrated ability to follow verbal instructions required
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing required
