Job summary

Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary is seeking a Per Diem Sleep Lab Technologist to perform polysomnographic studies in a clinical setting, including CPAP titrations, and to communicate results to physicians and patients. You will calibrate equipment, maintain infection control, and support staff through education and collaboration.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, with a preferred Associate degree in Health Sciences.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Associate's Degree in Health Sciences preferred.
  • Licensure: Basic Life Support (BLS) required/preferred.
  • Polysomnography tech experience and RPSGT/RST credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform polysomnographic studies in a clinical setting and titrate oxygen/CPAP as needed.
  • Score studies and prepare reports for physician interpretation.
  • Document pertinent patient events and communicate results to patients, families, and physicians.
  • Calibrate and troubleshoot equipment; ensure infection control in all devices.
  • Consult with physicians regarding patient studies and participate in quality improvement efforts.

Communicates and educates patients and families regarding sleep disorders and treatments. Consults with referring physicians regarding patient results.Does this position require Patient Care? YesEssential Functions-Performs polysomnographic studies in a clinical setting, including oxygen and nasal continuous positive airway pressure titrations-Scores studies and formulates reports for physician interpretation. Documents all pertinent patient events according to department policy-Communicates instructions, results, and relative information to patients, physicians, and family members-Calibrates and performs routine and troubleshooting maintenance on equipment; notifies proper personnel for equipment problems; cleans all equipment ensuring infection control-Consults with physicians regarding patient studies as needed-Maintains standards for completeness of quality improvement and quality control measurements-May establish and implement performance improvements including education and staff developmentQualificationsEducation High School Diploma or Equivalent required and Associate's Degree Health Sciences preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?
