Job summary

Boston Scientific in Maple Grove, MN is seeking a Supplier Engineer to support the Polymers Category, developing, qualifying, and sustaining procured medical device materials. You will partner with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Reliability to ensure components meet system requirements and are robust across suppliers.

The role follows a hybrid work model with in-office presence required at least three days a week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering with at least 2 years of manufacturing operations experience.
• Experience in medical device or similarly regulated industry.
• Experience with polymer manufacturing technologies (injection molding, extrusions, chemical and polymer processing).
• Working knowledge of statistical methods, Six Sigma and DOE.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with internal and external teams.
• Ability to travel up to 10% globally.

Responsibilities

• Collaborating with R&D to develop, evaluate, and qualify polymer-related components for use in medical device applications.
• Understanding the manufacturing industry to assist with sourcing decisions regarding key suppliers.
• Working with global suppliers to understand manufacturing processes and ensure quality and reliability can be repeated and reproduced throughout the life of the component(s).
• Partnering with suppliers and category team members to investigate supplied material issues, supply constraints and to support value improvement initiatives.
• Investigating and evaluating new and existing technologies to improve the quality and reliability for current and future components.
• Performing technical tasks to ensure component performance and supplier capability including the completion of First Article reports (statistical capability assessment), ensuring material regulation compliance, and executing engineering change requests to ensure continued high performance.
• Supporting the BSC commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance with the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.
