Job summary

Empire Group is seeking a Polymer Powder-Bed Fusion Technician — Post-Processing & Operations to own the flow of MJF work from build prep through final staging. You will collaborate with our Additive Manufacturing Technical Lead and assist with FDM and SLA as needed.

The role demands hands-on operation of industrial equipment, attention to detail for defects, and safe handling of powders and tools in a fast-paced production setting.

Responsibilities

• Daily MJF operations: build preparation, machine setup, operation, monitoring, and job staging.
• Powder stewardship: safe loading, recovery, storage, and material organization.
• Post-processing: unpack builds; depowder, clean, bead blast, dye, sort, and stage.
• Hardware installation: install heat-set inserts and other hardware per drawings and work instructions.
• In-process quality checks: identify defects, damage, missing parts, or dimensional concerns.
• Visual factory: maintain clearly labeled staging areas for printed, cleaned, inspected, rework, and completed parts.

At Empire Group, we’re looking for a hands-on technician to own the flow of polymer powder-bed fusion work—primarily Multi Jet Fusion (MJF)—from build prep through final staging. You’ll work directly with our Additive Manufacturing Technical Lead and jump in across FDM and SLA as needed.Is this you?Comfortable operating industrial equipment and following precise instructions?Skilled at handling small parts, tracking quantities, and juggling multiple jobs?Detail-obsessed—able to spot defects, missing components, or dimensional issues at a glance?Organized, dependable, and safety-minded around powders, compressed air, heated tools, and blasting equipment?Good with basic computer workflows for job tracking and documentation?A team player who can also work independently when the line gets busy?What you’ll handleDaily MJF operations: build preparation, machine setup, operation, monitoring, and job staging.Powder stewardship: safe loading, recovery, storage, and material organization.Post-processing: unpack builds; depowder, clean, bead blast, dye, sort, and stage.Hardware installation: install heat-set inserts and other hardware per drawings and work instructions.In-process quality checks: identify defects, damage, missing parts, and dimensional concerns.Process discipline: follow production travelers, work instructions, quality standards, and scheduling priorities.Visual factory: maintain clearly labeled staging areas for printed, cleaned, inspected, rework, and completed parts.Equipment readiness: routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, consumable changes, and readiness checks.Production records: capture job status, quantities, scrap, rework, machine logs, insert counts, and post-processing notes.Cross-technology support: assist with FDM and SLA—part removal, support removal, resin cleaning, curing, sanding, and staging.Collaboration: coordinate with finishing, painting, quality, and production teammates to keep work moving efficiently.Safety + housekeeping: uphold PPE, equipment-safety, powder-handling, and cleanliness standards.Other additive manufacturing and production-support duties as assigned.Must-havesExperience in manufacturing, production, machine operation, shop work, finishing, assembly, or a related hands-on technical field.Mechanical aptitude and confidence with production equipment.Ability to follow written instructions consistently and accurately.Comfort handling small components and managing multiple jobs at once.Ability to recognize visible defects, damage, missing parts, installation issues, and other production concerns.Basic computer literacy for tracking and documentation.Ability to work safely around powders, compressed air, heated tools, blasting equipment, and industrial machinery.Reliable, organized, and effective both independently and in a team.Nice-to-havesIndustrial 3D printing or additive manufacturing experience.Background with MJF, SLS, SLA, FDM, or similar technologies.Hands-on post-processing: depowdering, bead blasting, dyeing, sanding, support removal, resin cleaning, curing.Heat-set insert or hardware installation experience.Ability to read production travelers, technical drawings, work instructions, and inspection requirements.Quality-controlled manufacturing experience.Familiarity with hand tools, shop equipment, heated tools, pallet jacks, and material-handling equipment.Physical requirementsStand, walk, bend, reach, and perform hands-on work for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.Lift and handle parts, powder containers, consumables, and production materials as required.Perform repetitive hand motions and detailed part-handling tasks.Wear required PPE and work safely around powders, compressed air, heated tools, blasting equipment, resin systems, 3D printers, and other industrial equipment.You’ll thrive here if you enjoy bringing order to a fast-moving production floor and take pride in sending out parts that look as good as they perform.
