Duties and Responsibilities: This is an entry-level polishing department position that requires operation of polishing and buffing equipment to obtain desired color, appearance and surface on products and parts of simple size and shape.
- To learn through training to set up and operate polishing and buffing equipment
- Learning to use selected wheels, dressings, and abrasives best suited for each type of job according to the supervisor’s instructions.
- To gain knowledge of quality standards of various parts/castings.
- Using careful handling, place finished parts in proper trays, racks and carts to insure undamaged product.
- Use and knowledge of safety equipment and safety procedures.
- Proper maintenance and cleaning of polishing machine.
- Communicate quality or job related problems to supervisor.
- To properly use through training, all required safety equipment and practices in compliance with company policies
Required Skills:
- Ability to learn repetitive tasks quickly.
- Physical strength and ability to sufficiently and safely perform routine lifting, bending, standing, walking and reaching for as much as ten hours per shift.
- Ability to acquire some skill in the use of standard production equipment and hand tools peculiar to the area of assignment.
- Ability through training to manipulate work to wheel using proper pressure and duration to obtain desired polish.
- Lifting and moving parts is required for the job – work is performed in standing or walking position. Noise dust and fumes all common elements.
