Job summary

Spherion Staffing, LLC is seeking aPolisher to join our client team in Rockton, IL. You will operate polishing lathes, grinders, and buffing equipment to finish metal components according to engineering standards.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year in metal grinding/polishing, strong manual dexterity, and the ability to perform physical labor in a fast-paced environment. Full benefits are provided after conversion, with a premium second shift differential offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of related work experience in metal grinding, polishing, or surface finishing.
• Proficient in operating power tools and polishing lathes; strong manual dexterity for rapid, precise moves.
• Keen eye for visual defect detection and maintaining consistent grain finishes.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate polishing lathes, hand grinders, square wheels, washers, and shakers to clean, grind, polish, and buff metal components.
• Grind, polish, blend, and deburr various surfaces on commercial cooking equipment and specialized food prep parts.
• Apply appropriate grades of abrasives, compounds, or greases to buffing wheels, and create custom buffing/sanding pads as needed.
• Smooth out surface blemishes, excess metal, burrs, and weld marks while maintaining original part contours, shapes, colors, and shines.
• Conduct visual inspections to check finished work for cracks, scratches, or pinholes, performing touch-ups and reworks as necessary.
• Perform minor assembly tasks (peeling protective paper, building sub-assemblies) and keep clear production and daily records.
• Maintain a clean work station, perform routine preventive maintenance on machinery, and strictly adhere to shop safety practices.

Are you a detail-oriented metalworker with an eye for quality finishing? Our client is looking for a skilled Polisher to join their team in Rockton, IL. In this role, you will operate various grinding, buffing, and polishing tools to clean, smooth, and grain-finish a wide range of commercial equipment parts and assemblies according to strict engineering standards.

What You'll Do
