Position Summary
Summary: Polishing roles involve finishing manufactured goods by flowing the product at the customer's pull, inspecting, and ensuring quality of Lancaster products.
Essential Responsibilities
- Inspect production and materials to ensure conformance to quality standards; defective parts are to be handed over to the supervisor.
- Manually or automatically finish all bodies and configurations, including various Ra finishes, using appropriate measuring instruments.
- Certify surface finish quality according to ITT BPE specifications, using gauges like profilometers, calipers, and thickness gauges, documenting acceptance or rejection accordingly.
- Operate air-powered tools, finishing equipment, and lifting devices safely and effectively.
- Participate in Kaizen events, suggesting continuous improvement ideas.
- Report safety incidents or concerns promptly.
- Train co-workers as assigned, perform efficiently, and maintain 6S standards for a clean, safe work environment.
- Read shop orders, interpret drawings, and follow instructions accurately.
- Utilize Kronos system and barcode tracking for labor and attendance records.
- Communicate effectively with department and support staff across safety, quality, engineering, and maintenance functions.
- Adhere to all safety, environmental, and process standards and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Strong organizational, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated, independent, and adaptable to changing priorities.
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
- High school diploma or equivalent; manufacturing experience and familiarity with hand tools preferred.
- Proficient in English reading, writing, and speaking; basic computer skills required.
- Ability to perform basic math and interpret data and drawings.
- Basic computer operation skills, including email and data entry.
- No specific certificates or licenses required.
- Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting up to 75 pounds, and using PPE such as steel toes, safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
- Work environment involves moderate to loud noise, with seasonal temperature variations.
