SUMMARY: Manufacturing Team Member Polisher

A Manufacturing Team Member TRIM supports production by working on various equipment such as hot forming press, forklift, bandsaw, grit blaster, plasma cutter, clean line, tool prepping, shear operation, or a 5-axis machine. This role involves performing processes to super plastically formed (SPF) metal components, including surface finishing, trimming, assembly, correction, touch-up polishing, touch-up painting, and inspection. Inspection is carried out using equipment like height gauges, ball-micrometers, calipers, go/no-go gauges, ultrasound, countersink gauges, and tong calipers to ensure work meets customer requirements. Additionally, the position includes shipping and receiving tasks to ensure positive and timely customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: May include the following, with other duties assigned as needed.

1. Prepare material for SPF forming by pulling, shearing, and loading/unloading tools for aluminum, titanium, or magnesium parts.
2. Operate hot forming press safely.
3. Prepare formed parts for subsequent processes such as plasma cutting, clean line, and trimming.
4. Finish precision formed aluminum sheet metal components using hand and stationary tools like belt and orbital sanders, drills, etc.
5. Polishing Experience Required:

• Use of stand-up bench buffer and handheld polishing buffers.
• Visually inspect for pinholes, pitting, scratches, and remove if necessary during buffing.
• Inspect thickness to ensure polishing does not reduce below the required thickness.
• Use polishing buffing cream.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Stand for entire shifts (8-12 hours) with breaks.
• Wear PPE including coveralls, respirator masks, and use hands for gripping and managing tools.
• Perform minor maintenance on machines as needed.
• Operate forklift to move raw materials and tools.
• Complete production and quality documentation supporting AS9100 requirements accurately and timely.
• Follow detailed manufacturing instructions and use tools to produce compliant components.
• Meet customer demands while maintaining quality and safety standards.
• Identify and escalate issues affecting quality or machine operation.
• Adhere to all safety practices and maintain a clean work area.
• Support shipping and receiving activities, including verifying parts, inputting orders into ERP, and preparing parts for shipment.
• Work flexible hours and shifts as required.
