Job description

The DY Shop Polisher is responsible for ensuring the requested design finish is applied properly and within the requested timeline. The finishing is instrumental to the overall David Yurman design.

Reporting

Reporting to: Manager, Shop Technical Development.

Compensation

Rate: $33-$35 per hour. Hourly rate is only one component of the total compensation package, which may also include healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, a bonus, employee discounts, paid time off, sick time, and more.

Responsibilities

• Work independently on high-end intricate pieces such as sold orders and bridal, and master techniques on gold and silver mainline product.
• Apply the requested finish to design prototypes within the requested time frame.
• Collaborate closely with the DY Shop Polishing team and Manager to complete a high volume of requests daily.
• Propose new finishing techniques to serve design intent and provide input on finishing techniques for production.
• Perform quality control on projects, including polishing, refinish, and cleaning of gold, silver, and platinum repairs.
• Maintain organized chemical cabinets in preparation for OSHA inspections.
• Follow safety regulations and protocols.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7-10 years of experience as a Polisher in a jewelry workshop.
• Full understanding of polishing techniques and experience in rhodium plating.
• Ability to apply a variety of satin finishes.
• Experienced working as part of a team and with gold, silver, platinum, and precious gemstones.
• Strong collaboration and effective communication skills.
• Ability to inspect jewelry and identify issues.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changes in workflow and reprioritization.
• Willingness to work overtime as business needs arise.
• Organized, detail‑oriented, and highly motivated.
