Job summary

STS Aerospace in Laconia, NH is seeking a 2nd Shift Polish Operator to perform cleaning, deburring, polishing, grit blasting, and grinding of manufactured parts. Must be able to train on 1st Shift and work 2nd shift Monday-Thursday, 3:15PM to 1:45AM with a $1.00 shift differential.

Responsibilities include inspecting parts for defects, mounting tools, changing abrasives, deburring and polishing, and using various hand and power tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience or training.
• Ability to inspect parts for defects and handle tools safely.
• Experience with polishing, grinding, deburring or related finishing tasks.

Responsibilities

• Inspects parts for defects and material handling damage.
• Scrapes or rubs parts with file, wire brush, or buffing cloth.
• Mounts tools on revolving spindle for abrasive finishing and deburring.
• Able to change out tooling such as rubberized abrasives and bench grinder wheels as needed.
• Holds part against deburring/grinding wheel to deburr tube surfaces or grind weld beads; deburrs or polishes parts.
• Operates Dremel with Scotchbrite or abrasive wheel to polish parts.
• Uses Flex-hone when indicated on instructions.
• Operates hand-held Die-Grinder.
• Uses compressed air to clear interiors/exteriors after polishing.
• Operates Grit Blast Cabinet.
• Lifts up to 25 pounds; respirator required per safety protocols.
• Wears respirator about 8 hours daily.
• Maintains good attendance and punctuality.
• Other duties as needed.

Job Description

• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Employee must pass the respirator medical evaluation and respirator fit test prior to performing any duties and on an annual basis thereafter.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to wear a respirator on average 8 hours a day.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Education:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
