Position Summary

As a Polish Operator Trainee, you will learn a range of techniques and tools for polishing parts including the use of wheel lathes, Dynafiles, and various hand tools to achieve customer‑driven visual requirements, most often to achieve a grain finish appearance.

Polish Operators and Operator Trainees each perform operations in accordance with Military and OEM specifications. This role may be required to join the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program.

  • FAA DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program requires an initial pre‑employment drug test including a screen for THC, subject to quarterly Drug & BAT testing.
  • Prepare and process parts using a variety of polishing techniques.
  • Work closely with experienced Polish Operators and Department Leads to complete work and prioritize tasks.
  • Learn to follow shop travelers, technique cards, customer Purchase Orders, and instructions from experienced Operators and Department Leads.
  • Review and identify internal paperwork to ensure all previous operations were completed, notifying Production Supervisor and Quality Assurance team of any processing errors.
  • Prepare parts prior to operations including mechanical or chemical cleaning.
  • Prepare parts as called out in Purchase Orders and Technical Cards.
  • Perform inspection, measuring, and testing of part surfaces as required.
  • Perform pre and post cleaning surface finish requirements.
  • Follow Quality Assurance requirements.
  • Follow safety precautions as trained.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Ability to wear an N95 respirator as needed. FAA Fit Test is required.
  • Must have a regular and dependable attendance record.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English with other employees, customers, and auditors.
  • This position requires access to export‑controlled information and all applicants must satisfy U.S. export control regulations. Non‑U.S. persons would require an export license to work in our facility.
Education / Previous Experience Requirements
  • 1–2 years in a manufacturing or production environment a plus; experience with wheel lathes and/or dynafiles is also helpful.
Physical Ability
  • Lift occasionally: floor to knee (up to 114 lbs.), waist to waist (up to 63 lbs.), floor to knee to waist (up to 75 lbs.), waist to shoulder (up to 30 lbs.).
  • Carry 63 lbs. occasionally.
  • Push/pull 59 lbs. occasionally.
  • Stand and walk frequently.
  • Sit occasionally.
  • Reach from the shoulder and overhead occasionally and from the waist frequently.
  • Bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, crawl occasionally.
