Job summary

RC Fornax Ltd is seeking a Policy Officer / Senior Policy Officer for a remote, 6-month contract. The role focuses on developing, reviewing and implementing policy across programmes, supported by rigorous research and stakeholder engagement.

You will draft high-quality policy papers and briefings for senior decision-makers, and collaborate with government departments, regulators and external partners. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong policy development experience, the ability to

• Strong policy development experience with research and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to analyse complex information and present clear recommendations.
• Experience producing policy papers, briefings or submissions.
• Knowledge of government policy making and public sector landscape.
• Willingness to work across environmental/regulatory or sustainability topics is a plus.

Job Title: Policy Officer / Senior Policy Officer

Location: Remote

Contract: 6 Months (Extension Potential)

What You’ll Do

• Support the development, review and implementation of policy across a range of programmes and strategic priorities.
• Conduct research, analysis and evidence gathering to inform policy decisions and recommendations.
• Draft high-quality policy papers, briefings, ministerial submissions and stakeholder communications.
• Work closely with internal teams, government departments, regulators and external stakeholders to shape and deliver policy outcomes.
• Assess the impact of emerging legislation, regulatory changes and policy developments.
• Translate complex information into clear and actionable recommendations for senior decision makers.
• Contribute to policy consultations, stakeholder engagement activities and wider programme delivery.
• Support the development of policy positions that balance operational, regulatory and strategic considerations.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong policy development experience, including research, analysis, drafting and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to analyse complex information, identify key themes and present clear recommendations.
• Experience producing high-quality written outputs including policy papers, briefings, submissions or consultation responses.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with experience engaging across multiple organisations and seniority levels.
• Knowledge of government policy making processes and the wider public sector landscape.
• Experience within environmental, waste, regulatory, enforcement or sustainability policy would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Candidates with experience across wider government policy areas are encouraged to apply.
