Job description

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this lead position will be responsible for oversight and governance of the Operational Compliance function, including supervising responsibilities of the team. The Compliance function is a critical area within Operations that will drive the activation of group insurance policies based on complex reviews of clients and customers, including risk assessments of their company profiles and data accuracy. The role requires strong communication skills to partner with various teams across the organization and provide solutions for issues and ongoing improvements.

Responsibilities

  1. Plan and coordinate operational activities to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations.
  2. Set targets and measure performance.
  3. Own responsibility for escalations and team-related issues.
  4. Provide support and guidance to Regional and International teams on Middle East compliance queries and requirements.
  5. Govern compliance data gathering and validation activities regularly.
  6. Maintain an issue log to identify gaps and opportunities for process improvements.
  7. Support internal and external audits.
  8. Stay updated on regulatory requirements and changes; provide inter-departmental training when needed.
  9. Partner closely with regional sales and client management teams to advise on regulatory and compliance matters.
  10. Assist teams in identifying compliance risks, gathering missing information, and preventing non-compliance cases.
  11. Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

Experience & Competencies

  • Excellent written and spoken English and Arabic communication skills.
  • People management and reporting experience.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to respond independently to inquiries, grievances, complaints, or appeals of varying complexity.
  • High proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and their practical application.
  • Strong rapport-building and communication skills.
  • Problem-solving, leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the Middle East insurance market and its associated risks.
