Job summary

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) seeks a motivated college student or recent graduate for a paid Undergraduate/Graduate Policy Internship in Washington, DC. Hybrid in-office schedule supports federal advocacy work in gender equity and education policy.

The internship runs for 12 weeks, pays $19/hour, and requires 20-28 hours per week with core hours 9am–5pm ET. You will research, draft materials, and engage volunteers and partners to advance policy priorities.

Qualifications

• Interest in women’s equity and commitment to inclusion and equity.
• Interest in public policy, advocacy, and communications.
• Strong writing and research skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and take initiative.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Currently pursuing a degree or recent graduate.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and draft content for fact sheets, action alerts, briefing materials, talking points, newsletter articles, and social media;
• Outreach to volunteers and partners in support of advocacy and voter engagement;
• Attend relevant coalition meetings, congressional hearings, and other related events;
• Other related activities as assigned.
