Job summary

BAA Consulting is seeking a talented Policy Governance and Standards Systems Architect to join our Alexandria, VA team. You will shape governance frameworks and systems to guide policy compliance and enterprise initiatives, driving scalable, repeatable solutions across programs.

The role requires DoDAF/UAF architecture expertise, modeling and simulation experience, and a proven ability to present to executives while communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related field with 12+ years of experience.
• U.S. Citizenship with an active Top Secret clearance and SCI eligibility.
• Experience drafting executive presentations.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Apply architecture principles and methods to analysis, design, and documentation across system engineering activities.
• Draft and revise policies and procedures aligned with strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Perform advanced architecture work in design, evaluation, and operation of system development efforts.
• Collaborate with senior personnel, program managers, and external organizations on complex technical solutions.
• Develop and maintain systems engineering documentation and diagrams/models.
• Lead the creation of business process maps using standard methodologies and tools.

About the Role:

BAA Consulting is looking for a talented and driven Policy Governance and Standards Systems Architect to join our team in Alexandria, VA. In this critical role, you'll shape the frameworks and systems that guide organizational policy and governance at the highest levels. Primary Responsibilities:

• Employ solution architecture and system engineering principles, processes, methods, models, artifacts, and tools to accomplish analysis, problem evaluation/diagnosis, and solution design across a variety of Systems Engineering / Architecture activities, including data gathering, requirements definition, use case development, gap analysis, functional specification creation, test plan development, test preparation, risk assessment and mitigation planning, and authoring of design specifications.
• Assist in drafting new policies and procedures, revising existing ones, and ensuring they are aligned with the organizational and enterprise-wide strategic objectives, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
• Perform complex and advanced architecture work in design, evaluation, planning, testing, and operation in support of system development, engineering analysis, and research as needed.
• Work directly with senior technical and non-technical personnel, program managers, and external organizations in the planning, oversight, execution, and evaluation of multiple complex technical solutions related to a program's system and technical product development.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of systems engineering documentation and diagrams/models.
• Lead the development of business process maps using a standard methodology and toolset.

Basic Qualifications:

• Master's degree in related field and 12 years related experience.
• U.S. Citizenship with an active Top Secret (TS) and the ability to obtain an SCI clearance.
• Experience with preparing executive presentations.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent written and verbal oral communication skills.
• Ability to communicate technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Detail-oriented and excellent time-management skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities.

REQUIRED Qualifications:

• Solid experience in enterprise and/or systems architecture development – DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF); Unified Architecture Framework (UAF).
• Modeling and Simulation experience.
• Solid experience reviewing architecture artifacts and supporting the development of architecture related products within the Department of War.
• Experience with federal organizations and interacting with senior civilian and military personnel.
