Job summary

UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Institute (UCLA LPPI) seeks a Policy Director to lead policy strategy, mobilization, and external relations. The role requires translating research into practical policy recommendations and serving as a senior advisor to executive leadership.

The DP will guide a team, partner with policymakers, and build advocacy across local, state, and national levels. This hybrid post requires residence in the Los Angeles or Sacramento area and monthly travel.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in public policy, government relations, advocacy, or related field.
• Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local legislative processes.
• Ability to develop data-informed policy positions and advocacy strategies.
• Strong leadership and project management across teams.

Responsibilities

• Direct UCLA LPPI's policy strategy, research amplification, and external engagement priorities.
• Represent the Institute at legislative sessions, coalitions, and public forums.
• Translate research into actionable policy recommendations for decision-makers.
• Oversee staff and fellows, and manage multi‑city travel between LA and Sacramento.
