Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics seeks a Senior Manager for Government Affairs & Policy Communications to advance policy priorities and coordinate external messaging from New Brunswick, NJ or Washington, DC.

You will lead relationships with media, develop communication plans, and guide senior leaders through strategic messaging in a fast-moving policy landscape. Expectations include strong cross-functional collaboration, agency management, and a proven track record in public affairs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 8+ years in communications, public affairs, or media relations with a strong track record.
• Excellent verbal and written communications; produce well-written materials under tight deadlines.
• Strong relationship management; cross-functional and globally oriented.
• Experience pitching and maintaining reporter relationships (policy/political trades).
• Proven track record advising senior management/business leaders.
• Initiates actions, anticipates next steps, sets high standards.
• Experience managing third-party agency relationships.

Responsibilities

• Advance policy priorities through external communications.
• Lead and assist in developing plans, implementing programs, and engaging with media.
• Collaborate across multi-functional teams to advance GA&P priorities.
• Prepare external communications strategies in response to policy inquiries.
• Manage development/production of communications materials (statements, talking points, press releases, digital content).
• Coordinate internal teams to align positions and messaging on topics.
• Monitor external communications and media environment related to GA&P priorities.
• Develop relationships with key media outlets in policy circles.
• Manage agency relationships to support strategy development and execution.
• Maintain understanding of industry standards and emerging trends.
• Mentor colleagues and nurture continuous improvement.
