Job summary

Penfield Children's Center in Milwaukee, WI seeks a motivated Advocacy Fellow to support public policy and civic engagement efforts. You will work closely with the CEO and government affairs team to engage legislators and family advocates across Wisconsin.

The role offers hands-on experience in legislative advocacy, coalition coordination, and public education, with flexible scheduling for 15-20 hours per week in a part-time, non-benefits eligible position.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in or completion of an undergraduate or graduate degree program in public policy, political science, social work, public health, communications, education, law, or a related field.
• Demonstrated interest in policy advocacy, legislative affairs, early childhood systems, disability rights, or related areas.
• Strong written communication skills, including drafting professional documents or public-facing communications.

Responsibilities

• Track and analyze state and federal legislation, regulatory developments, and budget proposals relevant to early intervention and related issues.
• Assist in preparation of advocacy materials, briefs, talking points, testimony, and constituent communications for lawmakers.
• Schedule and prepare materials for legislative meetings and site visits with state legislators and delegation.
• Support tracking and reporting on advocacy outcomes and policy progress across priorities.
• Coordinate logistics for statewide advocacy days and outreach to coalition partners.
