Job summary

Kadiak, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, seeks a Policy Analyst II with a TS Security Clearance to support our government customer in Washington, DC. This onsite position (5 days per week) requires close collaboration with the Department of State and interagency partners.

You will prepare policy papers, briefs, and coordination materials, support high-level visits and conferences, and help organize meetings across multiple offices. Strong writing and briefing skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; 4+ years of experience preferred.
  • State Department policy experience preferred; other federal policy experience may qualify.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% internationally.

Job description

Kadiak, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Policy Analyst IIwith a TS Security Clearance to support Kadiak and our government customer in Washington, DC. This is an onsite position (5 days per week) required.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as a policy analyst in the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Counterterrorism.
  • Provide a range of coordination support for the CT Bureau-led international platforms to counter terrorism, and support new initiatives to advance U.S. government efforts.
  • Liaise with a wide array of regional and functional bureaus within the Department of State and the interagency on a routine basis to communicate effectively and advance the policy of the Counterterrorism Bureau.
  • In coordination with the relevant regional and functional bureaus, advise the Office Director and Deputy Director on special projects in his/her area of responsibility.
  • Support bilateral and multilateral diplomatic engagements involving the Secretary of State and other Department and interagency principals with relevant partners.
  • Participate in interagency meetings as they relate to the areas of responsibility and help prepare leadership for various local and international meetings, speeches, and presentations.
  • Research, prepare, and review policy papers, concept notes, cables, and briefing checklists on key topics across multiple regional issue sets and across various lines of effort.
  • Maintain trackers on policy efforts and report on progress of initiatives.
  • Support the organization and conduct of conferences and meetings, as assigned.
  • Support other projects as directed, including high-level USG visits and presentations.
  • On-site presence required with situational telework if appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 plus years of experience preferred.
  • Preferred areas of study are international studies, political science, national security, foreign policy, humanitarian assistance, foreign assistance, or counterterrorism.
  • State Department policy experience preferred but policy for another federal agency in areas of foreign policy, humanitarian assistance, foreign assistance, or counterterrorism could qualify.
  • Able to be available for up to 20% overseas travel.
  • Able to brief and work effectively with high-ranking officials of the State Department, other government agencies, and foreign governments.
  • Have an understanding or ability to learn the paper process and other procedures at the State Department.
  • Be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • The contractor must be able to learn and retain the policies and viewpoints of the assigned office as they relate to current foreign policy situations and Bureau program activities.
  • Must understand interagency coordination and how to work across multiple organizations.
  • Must have logistics experience related to convening or organizing meetings or conferences.
  • Familiarity with State Department presentation and data tools preferred.
  • Top Secret security clearance required.
