Job description

The Reporter is a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to delivering insightful investigations and incisive commentary on global affairs. We strive to inform public discourse and empower citizens through rigorous analysis of policies, conflicts, and international relations. We are seeking a motivated and analytical Part-Time Policy Analyst to join our Foreign Affairs Team. This role focuses on dissecting geopolitical developments and policy decisions, leveraging firsthand knowledge of governmental processes to enhance the depth and credibility of our reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

Policy Analysis & Research: Conduct in-depth research on foreign policy trends, international conflicts, trade agreements, and global governance issues.

Report Writing:Analyze and interpret diplomatic communications, official statements, and policy documents to identify implications for global stakeholders.

Data Synthesis: Analyze quantitative and qualitative data from government reports, academic journals, and field sources to uncover patterns and insights.

Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with current and former government officials, NGOs, and experts to validate analyses and incorporate diverse perspectives.

Requirements:

Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, Public Policy, Economics, or a related field.

Experience: 2+ years of professional experience in government roles (e.g., legislative staff, policy advisor, diplomatic service, or agency analyst). Additional experience in think tanks or international organizations is preferred.

Skills: Deep understanding of governmental processes, policy formulation, and diplomatic protocols; exceptional research and critical thinking abilities; passion for global affairs and nuanced geopolitical awareness.

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary: Competitive hourly rate ($60–$120/hour) commensurate with government or policy experience.
