Coalition of Asian American Leaders (CAAL) seeks a Policy and Advocacy Associate to support community-centered policy campaigns, civic engagement, coalition building, and community organizing in Minnesota. The role emphasizes relationship building, event planning, and strategic communication with policymakers and partners.

The ideal candidate is early to mid-career, passionate about public policy, and ready to lead or support advocacy activities, including Day at the Capitol, forums, and

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in public policy, activism, or related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in community organizing, public policy, advocacy, or civic engagement.
• Experience coordinating events, trainings, or legislative engagement activities.
• Ability to build relationships across communities, coalitions and stakeholders.
• Strong project management and communication skills.

Mansioni

• Advance CAAL’s advocacy priorities related to civic engagement, education, anti-hate initiatives, economic equity, immigration, and community safety.
• Monitor policy developments and track key legislation during Minnesota’s Legislative Session.
• Prepare advocacy materials such as briefing documents, presentations, testimonies, and community resources.
• Participate in meetings with policymakers, community leaders, and government agencies.
• Coordinate advocacy campaigns, public engagement activities, and rapid response efforts as needed.
