Job summary

City of Antioch in California invites applicants to begin as Police Trainees in a POST‑approved program. Trainees will engage in comprehensive training at a POST approved Police Academy for about five months under close supervision.

Upon successful academy completion, trainees may become probationary Police Officers, with salary progression to $115,608–$140,532 plus benefits as a sworn officer in the APOA bargaining unit.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED required.
• Must be 20 years and 6 months old at appointment.
• Valid California Class C driver's license required.
• Must pass POST medical, background, polygraph and training requirements.
• NTN or PELLETB scores may be used for entry.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a POST approved Police Academy training program under supervision.
• Temporary Trainee position with hourly pay and no regular benefits.
• Potential transition to sworn Police Officer after academy completion.
