Job summary

The Town of Mammoth Lakes Police Department seeks an experienced mid-management police supervisor reporting to the Police Chief. The role directs and mentors officers and non-sworn staff, manages assigned shifts, and coordinates response efforts.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of experience at the level of Police Officer with demonstrated ability to supervise employees, train staff, and handle increasing responsibilities.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, California POST certificates (Basic/Intermediate/Advanced); POST Supervisory certificate after two years.

Responsibilities

• Supervise patrol, investigations, traffic, records, animal/wildlife control and other related law enforcement activities; plan schedules and deployments.
• Oversee investigations, review reports, coordinate multi-officer operations and narcotics cases.
• Mentor staff, enforce policies, and handle disciplinary actions as needed.
• Provide court testimony and coordinate with prosecutors and other agencies.
• Engage with community forums and events to promote proactive policing and public trust.
• Lead training programs, in-house perishable skills, and field training for personnel.
