Job summary

The City of Winters Police Department seeks a Police Sergeant for internal and external recruitment to supervise patrol operations, manage training, and coordinate investigations. The role emphasizes leadership in the field, policy implementation, and community safety.

Salary ranges from $120,608 to $159,902 yearly with holiday pay, uniform allowance, and incentives including education pay and bilingual premium; CalPERS retirement participation is included, with a potential take-home vehicle

Qualifications

P.O.S.T. Intermediate Certificate required.
Three (3) years’ experience as Sergeant, Corporal, and/or Field Training Officer is highly desired.
High school diploma or GED or higher as part of Peace Officer eligibility.
Ability to meet California POST standards and maintain driving credentials.

Responsibilities

Plans, assigns, supervises, and reviews work of staff in services and operations division.
Investigates crimes and collects evidence for court proceedings.
Acts as back-up patrol officer and supervises in critical incidents.
Coordinates training programs and field training activities.
Participates in budget preparation and equipment planning.
