Job summary

The City Police Department is seeking a dedicated officer to patrol city streets on foot, by car, and by bike, deter crime, and maintain peace in assigned districts.

Key duties include enforcing traffic laws, responding to calls, taking reports, making lawful arrests, interviewing witnesses and suspects, and building positive relations with the community. Applicants must be at least 21, possess a valid California driver license, and be able to pass CJIS/fingerprint screenings.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with no prior relevant work experience.
• Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Patrols City and assigned districts to deter crime and maintain peace.
• Enforces traffic laws by patrolling roadways, responding to calls, issuing citations or warnings, and filing reports.
• Reports on motor vehicle accidents by responding to accidents, recording evidence, and filing reports.
• Investigates crimes by interviewing witnesses, victims and suspects, gathering and documenting evidence, filing reports and taking suspects into custody.
• Maintains positive community relations by answering citizens' questions and providing civic services.
